Event to spread the spirit for a good cause

By Jon Simpson, junior

Nov. 20, 2008
Falcon Fanatics chair Katie Kline hopes everyone will come out Saturday to enjoy some great Falcon basketball and help a good cause.

Kline and FACE Director of Marketing and Membership Darin Lysaught organized the Spread Your Spirit event to benefit the Kansas Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids program.

“If they bring a jar of peanut butter to the game they get free admission,” Kline said.

The Food 4 Kids program distributes food to children considered “food insecure,” meaning they do not get enough food outside of school.

The program allows participating schools to receive food and backpacks free of charge from the Kansas Food Bank. The Food Bank encourages foods that the kids can open and eat.

“November is National Peanut Butter Month,” Lysaught said. “That's why we chose peanut butter.”

The Falcons play Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. in the Garvey Athletic Center.
