The Falcon softball team holds onto fourth place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as it faces the University of St. Mary, who is undefeated in the conference, tonight in a double header.

“We are going to have some pretty stiff competition in the next two” match-ups, Coach Tony Segovia said.

Friends will play at Ottawa University, also an undefeated KCAC team, Tuesday, April 10.

“We take it one game at a time,” Segovia said.

But tonight the Falcons take with them sophomore Megan VinZant, who was named KCAC pitcher of the week. Segovia agreed that their pitching has been strong, but the team’s hitting has been hot and cold.

“We know that the girls can hit the ball,” Segovia said. “We just go in spurts.”

Segovia has a lot of confidence in the team. They get along better than any team he has coached and make each game a team effort.

The Falcons have a 4-2 KCAC record and a 16-10 overall record going into tonight’s game.

“The conference race is definitely in our hands now,” Segovia said. “We just need to take care of our business.”
