Cornerstone gets fresh start on new night

By Bradi Schultz, editor

Campus Ministries changed the time and place of the weekly praise gathering to Thursday nights at University Friends Church.

Nine years after starting Cornerstone, Campus Ministries Director Patrick Sehl decided it was time for a change. It had been at 8 p.m. Sundays at Casado Campus Center and is now at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the church.

“The vision is to really engage students in growing in their faith,” said Carrie Mills, assistant director of Campus Ministries. “Each will grow differently, but they will grow together.”

After talking with Pastor Cliff Loesch of Friend University Church, leaders of Campus Ministries decided to partner with the church, which wanted the building to be used more. They believed this was the right place to hold Cornerstone.

The first meeting was held Thursday, Aug. 25, and Mills said it went well. The first week, the group met in Rose Window Plaza and then made their way to the church. Many new faces joined the group, and everyone was starting to connect with one another.
